NJOREN
Njoren is a small very poor rural village very close to the border with Senegal.
The school (just like the village) has no electricity nor running water.
The priority in this school was to renovate or build the accommodation for teachers (who have to live on site as the school is hard to reach – a 9 km walk through a dusty/ muddy track in the bush from the main road). Until then, only male teachers were willing and able to share the previous tiny room in two or three (see pictures on right).
The school has 450 students and 16 teachers.

DOBANG KUNDA
The children at Dobang Kunda surprised us with a wonderful and unexpected "Welcome Welcome" chant (see video on 'Home' page)!
This school though supported by the village community, still has two major issues:

This school primarily needs a well pump to substitute the manual one which is too heavy for the children to operate.

BANSANG LOWER BASIC
This school is the largest in the region, and one of the oldest as it was built in 1947 and, owing to age, needs renovation (some of the structures are unsafe for use).
The school has double shifts which prevents a different use of the classrooms for other study programs.
The school has 1635 students and 42 teachers.

BANSANG UPPER BASIC
This school is the largest Upper Basic school in the region, with excellent end of school final results. It has no running water (only open well) and needs digging of a new borehole.
Needs more computers, printers, science lab material, shelves, machines for metal and woodworking classes.
Wiring of electricity needs to be changed.
Sports materials and bicycles are needed as many students walk a long way to get to school.
The school has 795 students and 26 teachers.

BANSANG SENIOR SECONDARY
This is one of the biggest Senior Secondary schools in the region. It's very important given that this is where all students prepare their A' levels in order to go to university in The Gambia or abroad. Bansang Senior Secondary is well renown for its sports athletes.
Urgent needs are lab materials, furniture for classrooms and library, whiteboards, wire for fencing of grounds, toilets and water supply, tools for metal and woodworking classes, sports kits and visual arts materials.
The school has 1450 students and 42 teachers.
