Our FREE Eye Screening Initiative in the 6 Bansang Schools
Friday 8th December 2023 saw the launch of the first instalment of our Free Eyecare Screening Initiative, led by Tata S Jobe.
The team visited Njoren Basic Cycle School, where Tata and the staff from Bansang Hospital tested the eyesight of 340 children, 13 teachers and 21 adults of the community prescribing and taking measurements for free corrective glasses where needed or identifying issues requiring more complex medical attention. The team was able to also support some local older residents of the Njoren by offering them free specialist eyecare support.
Reports of the findings were sent to the Bansang Hospital and 5 people were referred to the same structure.
We would like to thank the school for working closely with us in being able to organise and support Njoren youth.
Thursday 18th January 2024 saw the second instalment of our Free Eyecare Screening Initiative, led by Tata S Jobe.
The team visited Daru “Basic Cycle School”, where Tata and the staff from Bansang Hospital continued their efforts and tested the eyesight of 218 children , 8 teachers, here too prescribing and taking measurements for free corrective glasses where needed or identifying issues requiring more complex medical attention. The team was able to also support 9 residents of the Daru area by offering them free specialist eyecare support.
For Daru 20 people were referred to the Hospital.
We would like to thank the Head teacher and the school staff team for working closely with us in supporting the youths of Daru and their community.
